This article is based on a series Reflection on Knock by Gregory Johnson. Evidently, Our Lady, Ss. Joseph and John the Evangelist appeared together facing southeast towards La Salette and Rome to warn us of the auto-demolition of the Church. Why? Read below to find out. – Nich
To The Right: In this poor copy of an old holy card a depiction of the Angels as "shining stars" that go in and out through the gable is illustrated.
It is very interesting to note that the altar outside at the time of the apparition was in the background as depicted in a number of sketches/ images created at the time of the apparition (as shown in the picture to the right and also in the image below to the lower left vs. the modern images above it and to the right).

Yes, today a distorted presentation is made of the Lamb and altar presented in front and to the right of the images of Our Lady and Ss. Joseph and John. It is as if the authors of this distorted presentation want the viewing public to believe that the Lamb and the altar are the focal point of the apparition. I contend that the Modernist of our Church want to use this presentation as “heaven's approval” for the Novus Ordo Mass (NOM).
Then there is the subject of the Angels at Knock. During the apparition the Lamb and the altar in the apparition as well as the Tabernacle and altar inside the church are both centered directly below the window of the church’s south gable AND behind Our Lady and Ss. Joseph and John. “The altar was placed right under the window of the gable… outside the church at Knock.” The south gable wall under the window served as the backdrop for both the Lamb and altar in the apparition and the Lamb (Our Lord truly present) and altar inside the church.
Patrick Hill and John Curry, two eye witnesses, described watching the Angels going back and forth through the gable wall. “they [Angels]; they were not steady; they seemed as if they used to come nearer and, then retire again or to go in and out through the gable.” Could it be that the Angels’ actions are symbolic of the state of the Church today? With the Knock apparition being next to the south gable wall, there are two altars back-to-back, with Angels “going in and out” adoring the Lamb at both. Patrick Hill’s official testimony states that “their wings were fluttering, but I did not perceive their heads or faces, which were not turned to me.”
Interesting that this could be understood that when the Lamb of God is present on the altar, the ministers should be turned towards Him and not towards the people. One may conclude that the versus populum [turned to the people] practice of the NOM is offensive to God. This reminds me of the prophecy from Our Lord to Marie-Julie Jahenny in 1902 that said, “those not of My Gospel” were working to create a Mass with “words which are odious in My Sight”. Plus Our Lady reportedly spoke to Jahenny about actions to compromise the Church, clergy, and faith, and the introduction of “new preachers of new sacraments, new temples, new baptisms, new confraternities”.
Well, take a look at the hideous churches architected and constructed since Vatican II. Look at what goes on inside for the Mass and the Holy Sacraments. Recall the prayer of the Angel of Portugal prostrated before the Chalice and Host at Fatima in 1916, “For the outrage, sacrilege and indifference by which He [Christ] is offended….” See how this is all tied to La Salette and Knock?
And note that inside the church building one altar is dark, locked and empty because of the storm outside. Such is the state of the old beautiful traditional religious structures: basilicas, cathedrals, churches, convents and monastery chapels today. Knock reminds us that despite the attempts by Rome [Paul VI and later Benedict XVI] to reduce the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) to a sort of museum artifact called the “extraordinary form of the Roman Rite” in 2007 motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, God ultimately will intervene for the sake of the Elect.
Then there is the subject of the Knock parish priest – Archdeacon Bartholomew Cavanagh. Though he expressed deep regret for not witnessing the apparition, notwithstanding his deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the fact remains that he was absent. Can this not be a symbolism for the obstruction, indifference or corrupt criticism by many of today’s religious and Church leaders towards Marian Apparitions and associated End Times messages?
In conclusion, it appears that at Knock, regardless of the question of whether the NOM is valid or not, Christ is present in the Blessed Sacrament through the Transubstantiation of the bread and wine into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ by a consecrated Catholic priest. Unfortunately, the NOM is “Odious” in Jesus Christ’s sight. I would suggest that the behavior by a majority of the laity at the NOM is odious as well.
The only good news from Knock is that the three Saints, will direct the counter-revolution with the help of the Angels to usher in the “Period of Peace” promised at Fatima. We can only wait in patient hope with persistent prayer, supplication and sacrifice.
